Pink the Rink Night a Success
Nearly 500 supporters and fans gathered at Spartan Arena on February 10th for the first annual Castleton Women’s Ice Hockey team’s “Pink the Rink” for Breast Cancer. The event raised an impressive $6,317 in support of the Breast Care Program at Rutland Regional Medical Center.
"The Women’s Ice Hockey Team is thrilled to be able to help in the fight against breast cancer, a disease which has touched so many,” says Bethany Torrice, Head Coach of the team. "From our dedicated fans and players to attendees, we extend our gratitude for the generous support showed for "Pink in the Rink."

All proceeds from the event’s ticket sales were donated to the Breast Care Program at RRMC along with proceeds from the auction of collector’s edition pink jerseys worn by the players during the game. Admission tickets were also entered to win a chance at shooting to win a 2009 Toyota Camry, sponsored by Alderman’s Toyota.
The event began with a puck drop by Tom Huebner and Dr. Rick Lovett. In addition to great hockey action, and a chance to win a new car, Patten Oil’s pink truck was on site, as well as handmade pink scarves, mittens and a blanket raffle to help benefit the Breast Care Program. The Rutland Area Hockey Association (RAHA) and the Rutland High School girl’s hockey team provided face painting and sign making in the Spartan Arena lobby.
"This was a big night for us," added Tameron Harvell, APRN and Manager of the Breast Care Program. "Spartans fans and the community responded in a big way and we thank them for their unbelievable generosity." |
